MEDICAL AND NURSING CAREERS
Study all aspects of being
a nursing assistant, everything from bed-making to catheter care. First
semester focuses on basic skills for all medical careers: patient
communication, preventing bacteria and germs, medical terminology, AIDS
training and recognizing signs and symptoms of common diseases. Leave with
56 hours direct patient care at local skilled nursing facilities, which
prepares you to take the Washington State Nursing Assistant Certification
examination. Second semester provides opportunity for paid nursing
assistant experience, or unpaid experience with advanced clinicals like
hospitals, doctors' offices or dialysis clinics.
